How does it work?
- Type the site’s address (example.com is enough) or tap one of the most checked sites.
- Our server in France contacts the site and follows its redirects, within 8 seconds.
- You instantly see whether it responds, how fast, and what its answer means.
The three possible answers
- Up: the site responds, even with “page not found”.
- Up, but blocks robots: the site responds but refuses automated checks; it usually works for you.
- Not responding: name not found, server off, too slow, certificate rejected or a 5xx error.
FAQ
The site works here but not for me: why?
Then the problem is on your side: connection, Wi-Fi, your provider’s DNS, a browser extension or a company firewall. Try on mobile data, clear the cache or restart your router.
Why “blocks robots”?
Many big sites protect themselves from automated programs (Cloudflare, Akamai…). Our check is a program: they recognise it and turn it away, but they do answer, so they are up.
Where is the check run from?
From our server in France. An outage limited to one country or one internet provider may therefore go unnoticed.
Is the address I check recorded?
No. It goes to our server for the check, is written to no log, and the result is kept for one minute at most, so the same site isn’t checked ten times in a row.
Can I check a site on my local network?
No: for security, private addresses (router, printer, intranet), IP addresses and unusual ports are refused. Only public websites can be checked.
